9 August 2019
Following the closures of Age Concern Lunch Club at Christmas and the Tuesday RVS day centre service last month, Maldon and District CVS, Moat Foundation and Knightswood Day Centre got together with the former volunteers to establish a replacement service for older people in Maldon.
A short consultation earlier this year with former lunch club users identified this service is vital for older people identifying that they all had looked forward to attending the club and missed getting out the house to meet and socialise with people.
ECL, a company owned by Essex County Council which provides care services to older people and people with learning and sensory disabilities in Essex, came to the rescue offering to host the new service at Chapter House, their Wellbeing Hub in Maldon.
The new service plans to start in September 2019 on Tuesdays at Chapter House, Carmelite Way, Maldon, CM9 5FJ (behind Maldon Library). Prior to this, potential users of this service are invited to an afternoon tea on Tuesday 27th August, 2-4pm at Chapter House for a look around, more information and to discuss their needs.
To find out more and to book your place at the afternoon tea please contact Catherine at Maldon and District CVS on 01621 851891.
