Minibus Hire

The minibus hire scheme utilises volunteers and staff drivers driving our minibuses to provide transport for registered groups within the district. We operate three fully accessible minibuses with up to 15 passenger seats which can be configured to accommodate wheelchairs in lieu of some seats. All are fitted with rear tail lifts.

Who can use it and what for?

The group must be a genuine not-for-profit group providing a service to its members. Frequent hirers include support groups, residents' associations and youth groups.

Minibuses could be used for regular trips such as picking up club members to take them to a weekly meeting, occasional day trips out or even weekends away. For more details on making a booking visit our Fares and Fees page

Book a Ride

The Book-a-Ride scheme utilises volunteer car drivers with their own cars, or volunteer minibus drivers using our own fully accessible minibuses. We aim to meet the needs of individuals within the district who have no access to private transport or are unable to use or access conventional public transport. This may be because existing services and timetables do not meet transport needs, there is no public transport available or due to restricted mobility.
Membership is open to all - not simply those with disabilities.

Excursions

These are open to individual Book-a-Ride members who would like to join other members for occasional excursions. These trips use the Viking minibuses when they are not being used for group hire or as part of the Book-a-Ride service. Members will be collected from a central location or their home address depending on the trips and numbers going and then taken to the booked social activity. This could be a visit to an interesting town or village or simply to a nearby pub or restaurant for lunch. For details of upcoming Excursions click here
